Why is it GREAT to be a political liberal?

Rep. Jared Polis, running for Colorado governor

Liberals are forward-thinking people who are open to new ideas, hence the additional name “progressives.” Liberals believe in advancements in science and technology. They are on the side of workers and consumers, and support consumer-friendly policies like decent wages you can actually live on,  high quality affordable health care and education. Liberals support protecting consumers from the abuses of big businesses, and they support clean, sustainable, cost-effective energy. Liberals and progressives believe everyone is equal and all people should be treated with respect, no matter what color your skin is or where you’re from. Liberals support civil rights, women’s rights and voting rights. Liberals support freedom of the press, freedom of religion and non-religion and separation of church and state, meaning people should not be forced to pray to a specific religion in public schools or at taxpayer-funded public meetings. Liberals support a democratic system of government over other systems, like a monarchy (rule by a king), a dictatorship, or a theocracy (rule by religion).

So join liberals and progressives in supporting democracy and promoting the interests of families and working people at the free Progressive Family Picnic September 1, and help move the western slope forward, not backward!
