Gov. Polis issues order allowing businesses to deny service to people without masks

Home Style Bakery is taking advantage of the Governor’s executive order and banning people from their store who are not wearing masks to protect against the spread of the deadly Corona virus.

On June 4, Gov. Jared Polis issued an executive order allowing Colorado businesses to deny service to anyone not wearing a face mask to protect against transmission of Corona virus. The order is aimed at reducing the unchecked spread of the deadly virus, which has no prevention, no known treatment and no known cure.

The order gives

…”discretion to employers and operators of places of public accommodation, and those authorized on their behalf, to deny admittance or service and require the removal of any individual who fails to wear a medical or non-medical face covering.”

The state has been struggling to re-open its economy while keeping the  virus in check. If the number of cases in the state increases, it could force the state into another “lockdown,” or forced closure of businesses like we experienced for the first month of the pandemic.

The virus is extremely communicable, can be spread by people without symptoms, and only 2% of county has been tested for it.

The virus is extremely communicable and can be transmitted by people who are asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic, so there is no way to know who is carrying the virus and who isn’t.

City Market requests that for the safety of everyone, “please do not enter without a facial covering.”

The Mesa County Health Department has tested 3,042 people out of an estimated population of 151,406, or 2 percent of the county’s population.  Currently cases are on the rise with the county reporting 62 positive cases, up from 57 a week or so ago. The Mesa County Health Department announced on April 8, 2020 that are area was experiencing community spread of the disease, which means the health department is unable to trace the source of outbreaks when people in our area become ill.

The virus spreads among people in close contact, within about 6 feet of each other, such as occur in businesses, and is spread through respiratory droplets released when someone carrying the virus coughs, sneezes or talks.

  1. I will not patronize a place of business that forces you to Wear a mask. If people want to be sheep, then so be it.

    • I will patronize places that require a mask and stay away from those that don’t. There’s nothing sheepish about it. Don’t make it political. This is a public health issue. I don’t want to get it or pass it on.

    • Kimberly, it’s not a matter of “being a sheep.” It’s much bigger than that. It’s a matter of protecting our community and state from further lockdowns by minimizing and preventing spread of the deadly Corona virus.

  2. Watch Janet Rowland and her ilk, come back and accuse Polis of overstepping his authority and will see this as a denigration of their 2nd Amendment Right….because everything goes back to that.
