After 13 years, AnneLandmanBlog will soon be getting a refresh for 2025.
The blog has used the same template — meaning it has had the same look — since it started in 2012, but during that time the template’s developer stopped updating it. A consequence of that is that the blog was never optimized to look good on phones and tablets. Less apparent to readers is that it’s been causing some problems on the back end for both me and my web host from time to time.
I’m about the fix that.
I’ve been working on a new, updated template and will be switching over to it shortly. The switch is complicated a bit by having to move 12 years’ worth of archived articles onto the new template, but I’m confident we can pull it off with the help of FixRunner, my WordPress tech help service, which Patreon donors help fund. (Thank you, donors!) FixRunner also backs up the site and helps me get out of scrapes caused by hackers, denial-of-service attacks, technical glitches, etc., all of which have happened. They’ve been invaluable to keeping the blog up and running.
Stay tuned for the new look, and thank you in advance for your patience while we switch over to the new template and work out any kinks in the new site.
Thanks for all the work you do to keep us informed, I for one, find much of your content relevant and important and know the work behind it!
I guess even the Faux troll seems grateful to post his delusional cult BS!
It looks great!
Lots of troubleshooting required
There are always kinks when switching to a new theme, especially after a long time on a previous outdated theme. It takes time to work out the kinks.
The effort is much appreciated.
Thank you for the continued work on AnneLandmanBlog. I do have a few observations.
This clearly costs money to operate. It is much more than the costs for hosting and domain registration when you include upgrades and maintenance technical support.
It takes time to administer, which is in addition to the content creation and moderation.
I do not agree with the intent of some of the things you post, but I have never seen you post a false fact. You do follow what I consider ethical journalism in both your opinions and in the management of your channel.
We feel trusted in our rights to privacy and the protection of the data that you collect. I don’t know if your denial of service attacks are targeted to you, your web host, or are simply random. Something to think about. The scraping is interesting too. I used to think scraping is fair when the content is public in nature, but today I see the value in vigilance.
Comments can be taken out of context and from a different time or environment and used as cohersion against you. Truly, Orwellian.
You have also agreed not to sell ads, which would encourage web analytics research. But times are a changing. Tictok’s sale and operation is apparently controlled by the President. Google lost an antitrust case yesterday, and the same faces Facebook. Regulation, surveillance, and digital services tax face companies that provide services to Europe. And AI is the elephant in the room
, enabling many more agents to classify and predict data than the current larger search companies. The outcome of the Google antitrust case will facilitate the data that I trusted to one vendor will be made available to other search competitors.
Well, I got carried away again with my views.
Again, thank you!
