Anti tax bill banner spotted over Riverside Parkway at Broadway

Banner opposing Trump’s massive tax-cut budget bill spotted over Riverside Parkway at Broadway this morning, Thursday, May 22, 2025. The bill, which was just approved by a razor-thin margin of House Republicans early this morning, would slash Medicaid and SNAP nutrition benefits that benefit poor families, children and disabled people, in order to lower taxes for the wealthiest Americans and big corporations. The Congressional Budget Office calculates Trump’s bill will increase the federal deficit by $3.8 trillion over the next decade. The western slope’s CD-3 House Rep. Jeff Hurd voted IN FAVOR of the harmful bill, which is predicted to have severe and potentially fatal consequences for some individuals. The bill will erode the social safety net for the nation’s most vulnerable populations, and exacerbate income inequality, which has been linked to negative health outcomes including reduced life expectancy, increased infant mortality, and higher rates of chronic diseases. 1. You’re probably right about Biden. He really didn’t know what was going on.

I didn’t say illegal migrants were eligible for Medicare.

I see you’re right about SNAP, which is a very good thing. But they are eligible for WIC

I have voiced no opinion about the bill, much less cheered it on…but that doesn’t matter to you. You imagine casting unsupported assertions is your super power, silly boy.

PS. In case your interested, illegals are eligible for “emergency” Medicaid. You’d like to imagine these people are costing nothing, but someone has to pay the hospitals, FQACs and landlords and that person is you.

  2. Jeff Hurd has betrayed the majority of his district with his vote: the percentage of folks who rely on Medicais, Medicare, SNAP, etc in his district is very high. I have heard that if this becomes law, the Medicaid and Medicare cuts mean Delta hospital wil be very likely to shut its doors.

I hope the Senate stops this awful, awful bill.

  3. I await Jeff Hurd’s explanation for why he voted to increase the national debt, to under-tax the nation’s richest of the rich, to impede or obstruct access to healthcare of ten’s of millions of Americans, and to give the Orange Julius another freebie, grift-wise.

He might explain “I represent the richest 1%…what’s wrong with that?” Or, “I’m afraid I’ll be primaried next election.” Or, “I’ve been paid to do this.” Or, “there have been threats against all of who did not vote as The Great Leader demands.”

Just an honest explanation, please, why he voted to the detriment of thousands of us, his constituents.

  4. Yeah that is a great act of resistance. Allelujah! Now let’s show up for his Birthday protest which is world wide! His level of corruption seems to be totally sanctioned by the GOP. They gotta go!

  5. God bless the courageous soul that hung that message. You are one of the few media that is confronting this harm being done to the most vulnerable: the frontline workers: ag food producers, vulnerable families, food banks, schools, aid to impoverished communities in the world; and bloating our already gargantuan military budget as well as unleashing ICE goon squads throughout our nation.

    1. You should tune in to CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and ABC if you think Anne is the only one covering this. I’m sure the Sentinel, Colorado Times and Denver Post will chime in when their regurgitators
are back from their lunch break.

Imagine the billions we could have saved if Biden hadn’t opened the border and if all those wonderful NGOs hadn’t signed illegal migrants up for Medicaid, SNAP and emergency housing.

And all those ag workers you are concerned with? Imagine if they weren’t competing with people who will gladly work for cash at a lower rate of pay. Ceaser Chavez fought mightily against illegal immigration. He saw that his legal union workers would only stand to lose if it wasn’t curtailed.

      1. Biden didn’t let millions in and undocumented immigrants are federally prohibited from receiving Medicareand SNAP. You’ve been lied to, and you swallowed it without question. This bill is hurting Americans, and you are cheering it on.

          1. Yes, you did.

“all those wonderful NGOs hadn’t signed illegal migrants up for Medicaid, SNAP and emergency housing.”

And I did know immigrants are eligible for emergency care. I suppose you’re against that as well, since you are opposed to even giving them due process as guaranteed in the Constitution.

            1. You said I said they were eligible for Medicare and I didn’t.

And yes, I am against providing care to people who are here illegally. They need to go home. I am also against birthright citizenship. Among all the first world nations we are the only one that offers this and it is a perverse incentive.

These are all a huge drain on our economy and this needs to change but never will because of politics. I remember all the lies that the affordable care act would relieve the burden on our emergency rooms but all it did was shift the cost to the states and here we are again.

The due process requirements also should be changed but they
won’t either. No one has the balls to tackle real problems.

You people pretend to be worried about a constitutional crisis and the end of democracy, but you’re lying. What you really want is for the chaos to continue and find opportunities to call republicans thugs, while you spend your time getting in the way…and there are countless ways to do that.

My most fervent hope is that the smart people of my party (not Kristie Noem) will fight you every inch of the way.

              Remains to be seen.

              1. You said they were being signed up for Medicare. If they aren’t elegible, than who cares? Isn’t your point that taxpayers are having to pay for illegals on Medicarfe? They aren’t. You’ve been lied to, and you believed it as usual.

But thank you for the screed about what a horrible person you really are. Here’s the funny part.

MAGA stands for “Make America Great Again”. So it used to be great, but has somehow fallen from that lofty standard. When you ask a MAGA when it was great, you get varying answers. Some believe you have to go all the way back to the 1850s (Make Slavery Great Again?). Some say back to the early 1900s before women had the right to vote. Most say the 1950s with that whole “Leave It To Beaver/Father Knows Best” thing. Regardless, according to them, America was great when Due Process was for everyone. Granted, birthright citizenship didn’t come about until 1868, but through most of the century that MAGAs believe America was great, it was a thing.

harry also points out that among first world nations, the US is the only one with birthright citizenship. But MAGAs also believe that the US is the best country on earth, don’t they?

So if America was great with due process for all and birthright citizenship, maybe those things aren’t really the problem?

Of course, harry will never consider this because she has been programmed not to question the right-wing narrative, which is why she still thinks Biden let in millions of illegal immigrants despite having zero evidence of such. She will continue to rant about how terrible these things are, never once considering that she believes America was great while they were in effect and maybe the problem lies elsewhere. Fox said it, she believes it, that settles it.

                1. I didn’t say that…full stop.

I don’t know who you get away with this stuff with…your cat?

I have no illusions about how great America is/was and you are attributing things to me that are incorrect.

                  But that is your way.
As I’ve said before…I am neither impressed or intimidated…obviously

                  1. I quoted where you said they were being signed up for Medicare and SNAP. That is untrue. I have no doubt you believe it, but that doesn’t make it so. It just means you got sold a bill of goods.

I’m not trying to impress or intimidate you. I’m simply saying what Trump supporters have bbeen telling me for years. If this doesn’t apply to you, then it doesn’t but I’d be very surprised if that were the case. You repeat the MAGA line at nearly every opportunity. And as I said, you aren’t willing to consider the possibility that you might be wrong. There’s a huge hole in your reasoning, but you don’t have the self-awareness to see it.
