Above was the scene on Saturday, June 14th, 2025 at the No Kings Day protest at Canyon View Park in Grand Junction, Colorado, organized by Indivisible Grand Junction to protest convicted felon/adjudicated sexual abuser/President Trump’s dictator-style military birthday parade, and his ongoing violations of norms, ethics, U.S. laws, court orders and the U.S. Constitution in his efforts to seize autocratic (dictator-style) control of the United States.
People at the protest understood the high stakes of the current political situation, and the urgency of getting out to oppose the impending dictatorship in America.
There was little opposition at the protest, with only 3- 4 Trump cars that kept persistently rolling up and down 24 Road, from roundabout to roundabout at either end of the park. One or two coal rolling trucks made an appearance, too. But the number of people who came out to show their support for saving our democracy overwhelmingly outnumbered those who showed up to support America’s descent into a dictatorship under Trump.

It was a wonderful turnout in GJ across the country, and really inspiring to be a part of something that felt historic. I’m hearing that we approached 3.5% attendance, while Trump’s birthday parade turned out to be underwhelming and lame. But to me, the tiny opposition in GJ really showed how much MAGA is an anti-democratic, fascistic cult. They turned out with a Trump 2028 flag (unconstitutional), the Confederate flag (which fought to subjugate Black people), militia flags (maybe prepping for the next insurrection?), and strongman worship (one guy had “Trump is King” on his bumper, another had daddy issues). I took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and I feel that these are the people that really hate America.
I’ve been following the reporting on yesterday’s protests, and it seems the violence that happened yesterday largely happened on the Right – starting with the assassination and attempted assassination of two Democrat politicians by a deranged Trump supporter. A peaceful protester was shot in SLC, and there were several incidents MAGA supporters driving cars into crowds. The police in LA got trigger happy and started beating and throwing tear gas at protesters–one cop is on video shoving an elderly man to the ground. Of course there’s people that will take advantage of a protest to smash or destroy things, but Trump wants everyone to believe that this pro-democracy movement is mostly violent, when this is a lie and a tactic used by authoritarians.
I wonder how the cost of the Army birthday parade compares with the millions being spent all over the country to control the NO KINGS crowds and prevent damage *of course not in Grand Junction!
The Trump bro turnout definitely fizzled. Somebody probably cooked it up at a poker game last weekend.
Maybe next time they can get Soros to fund it.
But as someone here said ‘what have we got to protest?’
We can just watch TV and see how this whole thing pans out. There are still thousands on the streets in LA and it’s less than an hour before curfew and the cops are out in full force
