After declaring a fake “crime emergency” in Washington, D.C. two weeks ago, where crime hit a 30 year low last January, as a purported reason to send armed troops into Washington D.C., convicted felon/sexual abuser/President Trump is now claiming the authority to conduct similar military “takeovers” of American cities across the U.S. All of the cities he has targeted so far for this treatment are in Democratically-led states, have Black, Democratic mayors and are majority-minority cities that Trump has described as “dangerous and filthy.” His list includes New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Chicago, Oakland (CA) and Los Angeles. The Pentagon has even recently allowed the troops being sent to these cities to carry lethal weapons to be used against citizens.
But Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker clapped back against Trump’s plan to target Chicago for his next military takeover.
In an August 25 press conference, Gov. Pritzker said what Trump is doing is illegal and unconstitutional. He pointed out that no one in the federal government has contacted anyone in Illinois state administration or at any local law enforcement agencies about a plan to “assist” in fighting crime, nor as anyone in Illinois requested intervention. Pritzker says Trump is “searching for any justification to deploy the military in a blue state, and in a blue city, to try to intimidate his political rivals.” Pritzker added that Trump’s military takeovers are an effort “to circumvent our democracy, militarize our cities and end elections.” He says there is no emergency in Chicago that calls for armed military intervention, and pointed out that the rate of violent crime is worse in red states and red cities.
Gov. Pritzker:
“Mr. President, do not come to Chicago. You are neither wanted here nor needed here. Your remarks about this effort over the last several weeks have betrayed a continuing slip in your mental faculties and are not fit for the auspicious office that you occupy.”
Gov. Pritzker describes Trump’s dictatorial attempt to use a show of federal force to intimidate and threaten citizens in blue cities and states, and is well worth a listen.
As of now, Democratic governors are proving to be the front line in the national fight to try to save American democracy from Trump’s authoritarian takeover.
Doesn’t need to even be a REAL crisis!! He will predictably declare a creative crisis when the mid terms roll up, no voting for you!!

It was a Democrat, Rahm Emanuel, who put into words a political truism that “leaders,” of all stripes utilize. And that “there is no crisis that one can’t use to manipulate people.” Some do this caca better than others. Putin is the king, with his blowing up Russian buildings, killing Russian civilians, and then blaming it on Chechans. Our current despot despoiling the White House uses Covid, hurricanes, poverty, inflation, immigration…to manipulate, inflame, arouse hatred. The usual stuff of tyrants.
He declares victory as he de-crimes Washington DC with his incel ICE army, under his own combat-hardened, waddling leadership. Now, off to The Windy City, which is less violent than many red-states and their red-state cities. Chicago doesn’t need his flatulent turpitude, his squalor moralis. For that matter, none of us benefits from HIM, excepting President Putin, for whom HE is treating the US as his sanitary tissue.
