Trump posts two vulgar, racist AI deepfake videos insulting Democratic Congressional leaders

Shortly after convicted felon/sexual abuser/President Trump met at the White House with Democratic House Minority Leader Hakim Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer  September 29 in a meeting held to negotiate a way to avoid the government shutdown, Trump posted two vulgar, AI deepfake videos filled with racist tropes of Senator Schumer and Rep. Hakim Jeffries on his X and “Truth Social” accounts on September 29 and 30.

The video played mariachi music and showed the two Democratic leaders with offensive cultural tropes. The image of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries was doctored to show him with a superimposed sombrero and exaggerated handlebar mustache while a fabricated audio track depicted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer speaking with vulgarities and saying “if we give all these illegal aliens health care, we might be able to get them on our side so they can vote for us.”

When asked about the bigoted, childish videos, House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed them by saying the videos were “not my style,” and defending them as a “joke.”

Peter Loge, Associate Professor of of Media and Public Affairs and Director of the Project on Ethics in Political Communication at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. said “Whether or not it’s satirical, it’s still racist.”

Loge explained that Trump’s AI videos used offensive Mexican stereotypes, falsely equated every Mexican with undocumented immigrants, and were derogatory to the intelligence of Black and Latino voters.

Loge added,

“Nobody should be sharing that video. Certainly not the president of the United States who represents all of the Americans, not just a small political base that supports him.”
