Emergency protest in Grand Junction today, 1:00 p.m. in front of VA Hospital

The U.S. has attacked and captured Venezuela, kidnapped its president and his wife and Trump says the U.S. “will run Venezuela” and  its oil industry would “make a lot of money” under U.S. leadership.

Indivisible Grand Junction is calling an emergency protest today, Saturday, January 3, at 1:00 p.m. in front of the Veteran’s Administration Hospital on North Ave. at 23rd St. to protest Trump’s unprovoked, illegal, globally destabilizing coup and war on Venezuela and his deadly, illegal attacks on boats in the Caribbean. Last night Trump bombed Venezuela unprovoked, captured and kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro and his wife, and kidnapped them and had them flown them to the U.S., all without permission from Congress, the only entity with the power to declare war on another country. Trump says “The U.S. is going to run” Venezuela “for now.”

  1. Great turnout on North Avenue today (?50 to 70 active protesters, upbeat, and carrying signs.) Thank you for alerting us to the event. Every Saturday at 1 p.m., friends of democracy march in front of the VA. On January 20, we will march in support of Women’s rights and of democracy here in Grand Junction.

Today I urged many participants to contact Rep. Hurd’s office. Today he accepts no calls, so I began an e-mail, as follows:

“Rep. Hurd, Your president has issued illegal orders in firing explosives into Venezuela, then forcibly kidnaping the president of Venezuela and his wife (who is not accused of a crime.) EVERYONE in a decision-making position who enables or fails to use their position to criticize an illegal order (such as summary killing of foreign national, and kidnaping of foreign presidents) is part of the chain of illegal orders. Have you ever heard of Nurenberg?

Here’s what I want you to do: Read about Nurenberg and war crimes. Please stand before OUR Congress as OUR representative, and read pertinent portions of Nurenberg principles as they apply to four or five of the scores of war crimes our military has committed under the order of your president. Then, defend, if you can, the president, publicly.”

I CHOSE NOT TO SEND THE ABOVE TO OUR U.S. REP. JEFF HURD…Because of the threats from many figures in the current regime, such statements as above would be deemed treasonous. This White House is out of control, and is a danger to us all.
