Chuck Baldwin, a right wing pastor who was once chair of Florida’s Moral Majority, is a national figure in “patriot” circles. He is a far-right wing extremist who for 35 years has preached about the evils of the federal government, abortion and gay marriage, and of course he is pro-gun. In 2010, Baldwin moved his family to the Flathead Valley of Montana, one of the most extremist, white supremacist areas of the country, to continue “the fight.”
Yet on April 7, 2026 Baldwin put out the following video about Donald Trump:
On March 29, Baldwin posted another video calling legislators to apply the 25th Amendment to remove Trump, saying Trump should then be “arrested, prosecuted, convicted of war crimes and sent to prison.”
Pastor Baldwin is far from alone.
A host of high-profile MAGA figures with large followings have recently split from Trump loudly and clearly. The list includes conservative political activist Tucker Carlson, far-right radio show host Alex Jones, former batshit crazy right wing member of Congress Marjorie Taylor Greene, podcaster Joe Rogan, right wing conspiracy theorist Candace Owens, white supremacist Nick Fuentes and former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, to name a few.
Nick Fuentes said of the Trump administration:
“We need in 2026 for this administration to be shut the fuck down. What does this administration do other than cover up the Epstein files, embezzle money through government contracts and bring us to war for Israel. This administration needs to be shut down immediately.”:
Fuentes then tells his listeners they should vote for Democrats:
Alex Jones called to remove Trump (video), asking a guest, “How do we 25th Amendment his ass?”
Podcaster Joe Rogan has 19.9 million followers on Instagram and as many as 16.4 million combined followers/subscribers across Spotify and YouTube. Rogan started criticizing Trump’s ICE tactics in January and recently has been criticizing Trump’s involvement in the war on Iran, calling it “insane” and a betrayal of Trump’s promise to avoid “senseless wars.” Rogan said Trump’s war on Iran makes supporters feel “betrayed” and has speculated that Trump started the war to distract from domestic scandals, in particular the Epstein files. Rogan called it “psychotic.”
Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who has over 4 million subscribers on YouTube, criticized Trump on April 8 about what she said is Trump’s “completely irresponsible and disgusting” threat to wipe out “a whole civilization” in Iran. Kelly said,
“I don’t know about you, but I am sick of this shit! I’m sick of it. Can’t he just behave like a normal human? I mean, honestly, like the president—‘3D chess’ … just shut up! Fucking shut up about that shit! You don’t threaten to wipe out an entire civilization. We’re talking about civilians, just casually in a social media post.”
On March 9, right wing conspiracy theorist Candace Owens, who has 5.95 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, hosted an entire 1-hour podcast episode titled “Donald Trump has betrayed America,” (video) in which she says of Trump, “This level of deceit and betrayal should sicken you,” and “Trump has loyalty to no one but himself.”
Tucker Carlson, who in early 2026 had a following of 21-22 million across his main social media platforms, tore into Trump on Instagram April 5 saying Trump thinks he is God, and he is not God. Carlson criticized Trump’s profane Easter post on Truth Social as “vile on every level,” and wrote on X that “Desecrating Easter was the first step toward nuclear war. Christians need to understand where Trump is taking us.”
Former House Rep. and Trump friend Marjorie Taylor Green wrote on Twitter/X on April 5, in part, that:
“Everyone in [Trump’s] administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness. I know all of you and him and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit…Our President is not a Christian and his words and actions should not be supported by Christians. Christians in the administration should be pursuing peace. Urging the President to make peace. Not escalating war that is hurting people. This NOT what we promised the American people when they overwhelmingly voted in 2024, I know, I was there more than most. This is not making America great again, this is evil.”
All this is evidence that Trump’s MAGA coalition is waking up and seeing how dangerous Trump is for the country.
The question is, how far behind these right wing influencers are Congressional Republicans, and will opposition by these former staunch MAGAs be enough to help elected Republicans find the spine to remove Trump from office?
