Silent demonstrations will be held in Grand Junction to protest proposed immigration detention camps in Colorado

Video produced by the Save America Movement.

A group of concerned citizens will stage simultaneous silent demonstrations at three locations in downtown Grand Junction this Friday, 8/15/25 and Saturday, 8/16/25 to protest the six immigration detention camps proposed in Colorado. Three of the concentration camps are proposed to be in Congressional District 3 (La Junta & Walsenburg). Over 1,400 people have been illegally detained in Colorado so far this year, and in the Denver Field Office region 47% of those arrested have no criminal background.

Please note that this is not a call to action; the participants are already lined up.

ICE agents violently tackle a woman to the ground. Immigration violations are civil, not criminal offenses.

Participants will dress in all black, cover their mouths with black gaiters to represent ICE, and stand silently with heads bowed holding signs. This is a curated action and is designed to be quiet, powerful, and intentional, honoring those detained and drawing attention to what organizers call an inhumane, unconstitutional and racist attack on their neighbors.

When & Where:

  • Friday, August 15, 12:00 p.m. – Three simultaneous demonstrations will be held at separate locations in Grand Junction. The three demonstrations on Friday will be held downtown at the Mesa County Courthouse at 125 N. • Saturday, March 16, 9:00 a.m. – Saturday’s demonstrations will be at 7th St. and North Ave., at 7th St. and Main St. and at 1st Street and Grand Ave.

Demonstrations at each site will last 30 minutes.

ICE agents violently pin man to the ground. Immigration violations are civil, not criminal offenses. ICE agents are seizing and imprisoning people without warrants or due process.

People will see dozens of participants dressed in black, mouths covered, standing in silence and holding signs.

The purpose of the demonstrations is to stand in solidarity with people who have been illegally detained and denied due process in Colorado and across the nation, and to oppose the expansion of ICE detention facilities in our state.
