Now that the effort to recall Mesa County’s retaliatory, blaming, bumbling and high-spending Republican County Clerk Tina Peters fell short about 1,000 signatures of the 12,192 needed, and Peters has refused to resign, citizens must continue to put up with Clerk Tina, her embarrassing social media antics and her now infamous inability to handle the duties of her office.
Case in point: the massive employee turnover in her office is continuing just one day after the recall effort failed.
The County has posted yet another job opening for an Elections Manager, on August 5, this time just three months before the November, 3 2020 election, and just a day after the failure of the recall attempt against her was announced.
Grounds to recall Clerk Tina reaffirmed
The posting reinforces the urgency of one of the many grounds that recall proponents had stated for removing Peters:
“She has not maintained a trained, full staff in her term thus far. Poor management and substantial turnover in specialized jobs has made it unlikely she will be able to fully staff the office.”
That failure continues, and with options to fix the disastrous Clerk situation exhausted, many Mesa County citizens are left wondering whether their votes will be counted this November.
I haven’t been able to keep up with all this other than to know that she did not lose her job. Can someone enlighten me on how she was able to stay on, please? thanks
11,000 Grand Junction voters signed a petition to recall the arrogant, incompetent, possibly criminal clerk. That’s a hell of a lot of us to apply citizen overload for making her continued offensive presence so blatant. With such major elections at stake, she deserves no quarter. Keep up pressure, intensify it, actually. We made a powerful statement with our words, let’s match that with our deeds.
