Protest planned for GOP event in G.J. featuring House Reps. Jim Jordan and Lauren Boebert

House Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio)

The Mesa County Republican Party is hosting an event this coming Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. the Grand Junction Convention Center that features House Reps. Lauren Boebert and Jim Jordan (Ohio). The event starts at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $125-$225.

Several groups, including the Mesa County Democrats, are asking people to turn out to protest the event.

Rep. Jordan is a former wrestling coach at Ohio State University (OSU) who former university students accuse of helping cover up sexual abuse by the team doctor, Richard Strauss. A multi-million dollar investigation by OSU revealed Strauss had molested “at least 177 males students” between 1979 and 1996. Jordan worked at the university during that time, from 1987-1995. Six former wrestlers say Jordan knew about the molestation and didn’t do anything. A wrestling referee said he reported the abuse to Jordan but Jordan didn’t do anything to help the victims. Some students report that Jordan asked them to help cover up the abuse. The whistleblower who first exposed the abuse said he got a phone call from Jordan “begging” and “crying” to him not to corroborate accounts of the abuse.

Jordan is also a staunch ally of former President Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Boebert has been accused of spending her time as an elected Representative making self-promoting appearances at Mar-A-Lago the Mexican border and grandstanding about guns while doing little to nothing in Washington to advocate for her constituents. She is also accused of hurting struggling communities in her district by peddling extremist anti-vaccine sentiments on Twitter.

Lauren Boebert in December, 2019

A tweet in which she equated vaccinating Americans against Covid-19 with Nazism was met with condemnation from around the world, including by the Auschwitz Memorial, the museum of the Auschwitz concentration camp, which issued a statement saying Boebert’s tweet is a “symptom of moral and intellectual decline.”

Mesa County Democrats are asking people to come out and help protest Boebert and Jordan’s appearance.

There are  two protest events planned:

  1. A press event on Wednesday, July 21 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at Lincoln Park playground at 12th and Gunnison, and
  2. An event Counter-Protest and Rally on Saturday, July 24, the actual day of the event, from 7:00-7:30 p.m. outside the Grand Junction Convention Center, on the south side of Colorado Ave.

Attendees are encouraged to bring signs and be prepared to give comments to the press and media about why you are protesting Boebert and Jordan.

  1. I have a crisp, clean $100 bill to the first person to post a picture at the protest with the phrase “Jason, show us the D!” Bonus bucks if you make it to the news.

  2. Just curious – any consideration given to having a Kerry Donovan rally instead of a “protest”? It could be viewed as a more reasonable approach for those on the fence.

    • Excellent idea Mr. Thorpe! Although, I have been sitting around today day dreaming of fun signs to build for protesting Q’Bert and Jordan.

  3. The last 2000 years since the (story of) the torturous assassination of Jesus Of Nazareth have all been for naught, what with these two nutjobs being elected to office.

Mankind has learned nothing – literally turning its back on the message of the death of Jesus Christ. The message is we “save” ourselves by coming to see (our own) nature as it is.

So, in order to prevent future Boeberts, the idea of a “literal Jesus” must die!!

    • Back in September 2019, god single-handedly struck Lauren with covid. And that is how covid was born.
