Republican former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters fired her attorneys again today and been granted another delay in her criminal trial as a result. He trial was scheduled to start this Friday, 2/9/24.

The Colorado Sun reports that Judge Matthew Barrett has now set Tina’s criminal trial for July 29 through Aug. 12, 2024. This is the fifth time Tina has switched lawyers since 2022, when a grand jury indicted her on a 13 count mix of felonies and misdemeanors related to election tampering.

Tina has become a full time election denier who is making a living by soliciting donations from her followers, to whom she regularly promotes lies and conspiracy theories about election integrity. She now appears to be applying a strategy of repeatedly firing her attorneys as her trial dates get closer in order to indefinitely postpone her criminal trial. So far, the Court has allowed her to use this strategy and it appears to be working.

WesternSlopeNow.com (KREX-TV’s website) says they will livestream the trial when it occurs.

  1. Word on the street is that box truck with light up billboards calling for jury nullification is driving around Grand Junction. The truck’s message is that the jury is more powerful than the judge. I wonder what that’s all about.

  2. This judge Barrett needs to be voted out on next election. I will remember his ruling and we all should. This little circus makes a mockery of the legal system and the playbook is easy to follow.
Her parade of attorneys signifies the reality of her future, she is betting on a pardon if her Orange Imbecile comes through.

    • It turns out Ashby missed some things. According to a story in the Colorado Sun, the judge did call her on her claim she had Covid, by ordering her to be tested. She dressed in a bathrobe and sniffled. One can hope she tests negative and goes to jail for contempt.

    • Yes. Judges give a lot of latitude to parties in a law suit to make sure there is due process. Eventually the delay tactics get to be too obvious and the defendant can be assigned a lawyer and if they don’t accept that they can argue the case themselves. Few parties are as difficult as that and Peters is very the exception.

  3. DA Rubenstein and Judge Barrett need to grow some balls and call a halt to her bullshit. The DA should object. The Judge should make it clear she’s out of delays.

    • Amen. Defense counsel must argue abuse of process, pointing to each and every hiring, firing, and whatever other I tell it is they can find.

    • Exactly. Rubinstein must argue abuse of,process with dates, times, hiring/firings, along with whatever other intel it is that he has.

  4. Can’t they just appoint a court attorney for her and if she declines opting to argue her own case, let her do it? Is it possible that this circle goes “round and round she goes, where she stops nobody knows”?
