Trump fake-pardons Tina

Trump issued a fake pardon to Tina Peters this afternoon at 4:49 p.m. Eastern Time, but the pardon only exists on social media. The  White House Office of the Pardon Attorney’s website, which lists all of Trump’s clemency grants, contains no mention of Tina’s purported pardon.

As many people know by now, Trump has no legal authority to pardon Tina because she was convicted of state, not federal crimes. Trump is completely powerless in this matter. Tina remains in state prison at the La Vista Correctional Facility in Pueblo, which is primarily a medium security prison for women.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis said in a statement, “No President has jurisdiction over state law nor the power to pardon a person for state convictions.”

Trump touting what amounts to a completely ineffective, fake social media pardon demonstrates that he either has a vast lack of understanding of American laws, that he has no understanding of the legal limitations of his office, or that he is having yet another exacerbation of his increasingly apparent cognitive decline, or all of the above.

My bet is every Republican country will bite their lip and say absolutely nothing about this completely insane act by their führer.

  1. The Law and Order President and the Republicans that will condone this by their silence. I hope that someone will ask Jeff (Un)Hurd if he supports this farce!
