Detained Minneapolis pastor: ICE raids are “really about systemic racism” and generating fear

Rev. Kenny Callaghan of All God’s Metropolitan Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota was at the site of the ICE raid on Jan. 7 that resulted in ICE shooting to death at point blank range Renee Nicole Good, a 37 year old mother.

Callaghan, who has worked in the neighborhood for years, said he noticed something going on a block and a half away from his church. He went to the scene and said (video) that ICE agents pointed a gun at his head, handcuffed him and put him in the back of an SUV. He gave the full account about what ICE agents did to him to MSNOW.

What ICE did to Pastor Callaghan — handcuffing him and detaining him even though he was not doing anything illegal, and the ICE agent repeatedly asking him if he was “afraid yet” — reveals that ICE raids are really about implementing systemic racism and making people fear ICE’s heavily armed, aggressive government forces.

  1. Appreciate Anne Landman sharing this video of Minneapolis pastor held by ICE,
This video adds yet another dimension to our collective comprehension of ICE tactics to generate fear amongst us.
