Trump threatens 90 million Iranians with genocide

 

Trump said Iran’s “whole civilization will die tonight” unless the country agrees to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

The Strait of Hormuz was open and ships were transiting it until the U.S. and Israel abruptly began bombing Iran on February 28, 2026, without Trump consulting Congress. Iran took over control of the strait and stopped ships from using it as a response to the

aggression.  Trump has been trying to force Iran to open it. BBC reports that so far almost 3,600 people, including 1,665 civilians have been killed in Iran as a result of the war initiated by the U.S. and Israel.

Latest update, 6:40 p.m. Tues., April 7, 2026:

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT), who serves on the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, reported 52 minutes ago that Iran issued a statement that the U.S. has agreed to Iran’s 10-point plan for a ceasefire. Senator Murphy has the statement posted on his Twitter/X account, but apparently has not yet verified the report. Iran’s statement called the capitulation an “undeniable, historic and crushing defeat” for the U.S. The 10-point agreement gives Iran control over the Strait of Hormuz, lets Iran keep its nuclear program and also their missiles, and drops sanctions against Iran.

Senator Murphy had this to say today about Trump’s unhinged threats of genocide toward Iran:
