The Mesa County Commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider a 12-month temporary moratorium on applications to build data centers in the unincorporated areas of the county at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the old courthouse at 544 Rood Ave. in Grand Junction. The moratorium is intended to keep the status quo while giving the county time to re-write its Land Development Code. The commissioners will consider a resolution to block the acceptance, processing, and approval of new land use applications or county incentives to build data centers in unincorporated areas of Mesa County.
The moratorium is Item #1 on the agenda to consider after the Consent Agenda. Anne, thank you for providing ways for community to participate. Bobbie Daniel (Commissioner) suggested that we go to MesaCounty.gov to participate on this issue. Either she is ignorant about the obstacles to navigating the Mesa County website or she doesn’t really want community members to actively participate. You have help us luddites interact much more easily
