On December 23, 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives’ Ethics Committee, whose “singular mission is to protect the integrity of the House,” released a long-awaited report on the behavior of former House Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) (pdf), who was president-elect Donald J. Trump’s first choice to be Attorney General of the United States.
Gaetz resigned from his Congressional seat after his nomination to be AG, and prior to the release of the report.
The Ethics Committee found “substantial evidence” that:
• From at least 2017 to 2020, Representative Gaetz regularly paid women for engaging in sexual activity with him.
• In 2017, Representative Gaetz engaged in sexual activity with a 17-year-old girl.
• During the period 2017 to 2019, Representative Gaetz used or possessed illegal drugs, including cocaine and ecstasy, on multiple occasions.
• Representative Gaetz accepted gifts, including transportation and lodging in connection with a 2018 trip to the Bahamas, in excess of permissible amounts.
• In 2018, Representative Gaetz arranged for his Chief of Staff to assist a woman with whom he engaged in sexual activity in obtaining a passport, falsely indicating to the U.S. Department of State that she was a constituent.
• Representative Gaetz knowingly and willfully sought to impede and obstruct the Committee’s investigation of his conduct.
• Representative Gaetz has acted in a manner that reflects discreditably upon the House.
Many of the women with whom Gaetz engaged in sexual activity were sourced from the “sugar dating” website SeekingArrangement.com, now called Seeking.com, whose trademarked phrase is “experience hypergamy,” defined as dating or marrying someone of higher social class or status than themselves.
The 42-page report (pdf) describes in detail the evidence the Committee obtained about Gaetz’s behavior while he served in the House, including testimony from women with whom he had sex, witnesses to his drug-taking, text messages and records of his payments to women for sex made using peer-to-peer payment platforms like PayPal, Venmo and the Cash app.
It’s a sordid account, well worth a read, and deeply worrisome that Trump nominated Gaetz to be Attorney General of the United States, an act that calls into question Trump’s poor judgment in regard to his other nominees to head important government agencies as well.
Mesa County voted for Trump by a margin of 60.9% compared to 36.6% who voted for Harris, even though more than a dozen of Trump’s closest former staffers and aides strongly warned against electing him for another term, saying he is a threat to democracy and people should heed his warnings that he would seek to rule as a dictator.

Trump = chaos. This should come as no surprise to anyone. Trump surrounds himself with sexual predators. Birds of a feather flock together. He will take our country down and not blink an eye.
Lots of people would rather deal with Trump’s chaos than Biden’s wanton deception and destruction.
People like you bought the lie that Biden was fit as a fiddle and that the border was closed while 12 million illegal and unvetted immigrants streamed across.
Its going to take billions to fix this mess.Compared to what Biden has done a little Trump chaos is nothing.
Still drinking the kool-aid. Most undocumented immigrants in this country didn’t sneak across the border, but that doesn’t fit Trump’s narrative (or yours) so you ignore that inconvenient fact. I was discussing the Haitian claims with someone on Facebook and she flat out said that they weren’t here legally until they were citizens. You just can’t argue with ignorance like hers. Or yours.
Sorry, my boy will drink anything, as long as Trump’s bathed in it.
He ain’t right.
You realize the MAJORITY of our county AND country ArE dRiNkiNg tHe KoOlAiD, right?
Has the thought ever occurred to you that maybe y’all are the ones drinking the Biden koolaid?
Curious, are you aware the Biden DOJ exonerated Gaetz of criminal wrongdoing and dropped the charges in February 2023, then decided to reopen it when he went after McCarthy?
Did the ethics report contain the witness testimony saying “she never charged anyone anything” and they “never discussed money?”
Just like the idiotic author of this garbage blog, you’ll take a headline or a partial truth and run with it like it’s gospel.
Now that Matt Gaetz has been exposed and humiliated, lets expose the rest of them! I bet everyone would be surprised at just how many and how much$$$ has been spent! They violated the rules by releasing the report after he was out of office, I don’t condone what he was doing but lets get it all out in the open! Maybe that was in the plan!
That’s some real 3D chess thinking!
I disagree that anyone would be surprised by how much money has been spent. We’re pretty much immune to these numbers…millions, billions, trillions.
Th Fall of Rome comes to mind.
Get your NNRAGOP head out from where the sun never shines.
Ok, BlueAnon. Whatever you do, don’t refute the statements with facts or anything.
Are you a rapist like Gaetz? Or are you more like Trump? You defend them, so you must be one of them!
The party of President-elect Musk tried their darnedest to keep this newsy item of iniquity from being released. Let us hope that the incoming immigrant president allows the tumescent portfolio of Trump’s perfidy to be brought to light.
The same “newsy item of iniquity” that the Biden DOJ exonerated gaetz for in 2/2023? Y’all will take obvious retaliatory bullshit and worship it like gospel. It’s so pathetic.
New prison movie.
As opposed to 50 Shades of Gray,
here’s 42 Pages of Gaetz.
Gaetz promised (or threatened) to release names and feed of other congressional bad actors. Do you think he’ll deliver? Let’s hope so!
