David B. Wheeler of American Muckrakers filed a formal sworn complaint (pdf) on September 17, 2026 with the House Ethics Committee that alleges Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) engaged in sexual relationships with three of her Congressional staffers. The complaint alleges Rep. Boebert carried on a years-long affair with her female District Director Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff, rewarded Ratzlaff with taxpayer-funded bonuses, disguised a $5,000 campaign payment to her as “consulting,” and arranged a $200,000 payment to Ratzlaff as hush money after Ratzlaff threatened to file an ethics complaint against Boebert about the affair. The complaint also alleges Rep. Boebert had affairs with two additional staffers, one male and one female.

The complaint documents the allegations against Rep. Boebert using publicly available records including quarterly Statements of Disbursements of the U.S. House of Representatives, disbursement records filed with the Federal Election Commission by Lauren Boebert for Congress (FEC Committee ID C00728238), the Congressional Directory, Colorado state court records, published news reports and “on-the-record information provided to Complainant by sources with direct knowledge of the conduct described.”

The complaint alleges Rep. Boebert engaged in a “romantic and sexual relationship” with Navarro Ratzlaff ” and that “sexual encounters occurred between Respondent [Boebert] and Ms. Navarro Ratzlaff during official office hours, after hours, and on weekends; in Colorado and outside Colorado; in Respondent’s district office in Colorado; in a vehicle for which Ms. Navarro Ratzlaff received mileage reimbursements, and in hotel rooms paid for by Respondent’s campaign committee.” The complaint further states Rep. Boebert made a $5,000 payment to Ms. Navarro Ratzlaff for “fundraising consulting” that did not occur and after Ms. Navarro Ratzlaff told [Rep. Boebert] after the end of her employment that she intended to file an ethics complaint against her on or about March 2025, “a payment of approximately $200,000 was made to Ms. Navarro Ratzlaff to secure her silence and forestall the threatened complaint.”

The complaint also alleges Boebert engaged in a romantic and sexual relationship with western slope office staffer Raven Finegan “while Ms. Finegan was a House employee under Respondent’s supervision,” and that Rep. Boebert had a sexual relationship with her Chief of Staff Jeffrey D. Small, while he was employed by Boebert.

The complaint alleges Rep. Boebert violated the official Code of Conduct for House members which states, “A Member … may not engage in a sexual relationship with any employee of the House who works under the supervision of the Member…” It also alleges “conversion of campaign funds to personal use.”

Well, well, well, seems like the drunken groping of a date in a theater wasn’t just an isolated incident or an alcoholic lapse in judgement after all. The “Family Values Republican” has been exposed yet again as an uncontrollable deviation from her public image as a single mother, fighting for truth, justice and the American way in Washington, representing the good, moral and ethical Republicans in her adopted district on the Eastern plains.
It remains to be seen whether the Deep Red District has any decency or moral sense left at all, or if they are Dead Dog Republicans, that will vote for a dead dog if it has an “R” behind its name on a ballot!
