Tina Peters: “There’s NO WAY that these people won in our town,” and few on the right actually care enough about her “bombshell forensic report” to read it

On February 11, 2022, the same day she was officially arrested and booked on charges of obstruction, Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters appeared as a speaker at an “Emergency Town Hall” event held by the right wing extremist group Faith, Education, Commerce United in Castle Rock, Colorado.

During the Q &A, a member of the audience asks Peters:

“I’d like to hear from Tina. Would you bring us up to speed on all this? I read in the paper … I don’t get it, I mean I sort of get it, but the whole thing .. They walk into a restaurant, they arrest you and then they let you go. I don’t get it. Could you give us a nice little synopsis here? What started this in the first place?”

Tina responds by saying in part,

“So I did not go out on a fishing expedition, I did not go out to, you know, find something to prove that Trump won. It was very obvious, I think, to everybody. But when I saw the City Council election, I said ‘there’s no way, there is NO WAY that these people won in our town.'”

Matt Crane, the Executive Director of the Colorado County Clerks Association, who is a Republican, responded to this statement by Tina Peters by saying:

“Serious election administrators would never make such a comment without also providing additional data or evidence. If Clerk Peters had a question about the tabulation of ballots for the April 2021 Grand Junction municipal election, she could have at any time decided to do a hand recount, over and above the standard post-election audits. If she had a question about the QR codes printed on ballots, all she had to do was compare the ballot selections to the cast vote record for each ballot. It’s not complicated to validate whether ballots were tabulated accurately. Competent election administrators understand how their systems work and how to validate their accuracy without needing to turn cameras off to work with grifters and bad actors.

Few people on the right bothered read Peters’ “bombshell forensic report”

After Peters’ statement above, she next brings up the 85-page report (pdf) that she says conclusively proves that Jena Griswold engaged in criminal election misconduct. She asks the audience how many people have read her report.

Four people sitting on stage and two people sitting in the audience raised their hands.

Disappointed, Tina implores attendees to read the report:

C’mon now guys, go, go to StandWithTina.org and read the first report…”

A Feb. 15 Denver Post editorial titled “Tina Peters isn’t a laughing matter. She’s dangerous,” points out that Peters can be seen in this Castle Rock video applauding a clear call by her fellow election conspiracy theorist, Shawn Smith, for Jena Griswold to be burned and hanged.

  1. Tina’s a rising star in the cuckoo club, next we’ll hear she’s an anchor on Fox/OANN. I’m sure she’s hearing $$$ ringing in her head.

  2. Be careful James T, stay on topic which is Tina Peters being an incompetent and dishonest county clerk. Let’s not bring in the name calling such as “the racist, white suprematism, fascists.”

  3. I’m just thankful there are brave and responsible people like Anne and others who would stand up to the racist, white suprematism, fascists such as Tina Peters and her ilk. I want to support your movement in Mesa County so that we can preserve our democracy.

  4. It’s actually part of an ongoing attempted coup to sow as much doubt as possible about the election, and say that they have somehow been wronged. So in the future when they say they won, (if in fact they lost) They reject the results and stay in power despite the will of the people, serious as it gets.

  5. Has nobody pointed out to this crazy lady that the 2020 Mesa County election results are firmly red? Ditto for the 2021 election. What is she complaining about? Seems that this is just performance art and it’s about keeping people with otherwise boring lives entertained.

  6. Peters is a “true believer” meaning she cannot see beyond her prejudices and personal beliefs. She is now on a mission and is, as the Denver Post says, “dangerous”. She will go down convinced she is the victim while she ruins her life. I wonder if her divorce was so upsetting it blocked her vision and made her into what she has become. This is a very sad situation, but we have to make sure she is removed from public life.

  7. Ms. Peters is delusional if she thinks all Grand Junction voters are in lockstep with her and her cronies. Those people, whom she thinks “there’s no way, there is NO WAY that these people won in our town,” did win, and nothing nefarious was going on. The fact is that not everyone in Grand Junction believes and votes the same way Ms. Peters and her cronies do.

    • I agree with you completely. I would just point out that a big part of the delusion these people are under is the belief that they represent the majority of Americans. She can’t believe some liberal-ish candidates got elected to city council because she believes that most people here share her beliefs and values.
